This watercolour painting is a paid commission of Thunderbirds 1 and 2, from the classic sixties TV show about a family using futuristic machines to rescue people in peril! Working with the lighting and colours on this one was a lot of fun. I enjoy painting dawn scenes.
Initially I didn't plan to include Thunderbird 1, but the composition was weighted too far to the right and needed another element to balance it.
It looks much better with Thunderbird 1 there to balance the composition!
Here you can see my initial base colours, a lot of warmer tones to set the mood of the painting early, followed by cool, purple shadows.
