This is the cover art for my new Five Nights at Freddy's fanfiction, The Butterfly Effect. It took two attempts and a week of painting on and off to complete, but the result is so, so worth it. Painting bokeh by hand is an experiment I didn't expect to work, but it did!
The brunt of the work was in Daniel Smith watercolours, with some Pebeo gouache to smooth out and darken the background and add some details on the figure. The bokeh effect was done using wetting and lifting techniques with various sizes of deer foot brushes.
